Sleep Out: Honduras

About Covenant House Honduras

Covenant House provides housing and supportive services to youth overcoming homelessness and trafficking in 34 cities across the United States, Latin America, and Canada, including in Honduras. We help young people strengthen their resilience through relentless support, unconditional love, and absolute respect. Youth find more than just a safe place to sleep at Covenant House; here, they can access education programs, mental and physical health care, vocational training and legal aid to help them build a stable future.

Covenant House (or Casa Alianza, as we're known in Honduras) provides shelter and an array of programs for children and youth ages 12-18 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, abuse, exploitation, or human trafficking. We have two sites in Honduras: Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula.

At our emergency shelter in the Honduran capital, we provide a warm bed and protection for more than 75 boys and girls each night. When their immediate needs for food, clothing, and shelter are met, we work with the children and youth to identify each one’s goals and help them draw up a plan to reach them.

In addition to our emergency shelter, we have a designated home in Tegucigalpa for young survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. We house up to 50 girls in our home each year. We also run a child rights monitoring program that investigates and reports on human rights violations against children and youth distributed nationally and internationally.
